Loving the 2018 velvet trend! I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of this, especially here in Chicago, come fall. Now remember, if you’re using velvet that’s great, but highlight with it, don’t overkill. No one wants to sit on a velvet padded chair at a table draped in velvet scanning the reception and noticing a velvet backdrop behind the bridesmaids who are wearing velvet dresses. You see where I’m going here? If your groomsmen are wearing velvet jackets maybe the bridesmaids are wearing a complimentary velvet sash with their dress. If you’ve adorned your reception tables with floor length velvet linen, then maybe instead of a velvet backdrop behind the head table you do a velvet table runner. Or even just use velvet linens on your accessory tables; gift table, place card table, head table, cake table or sweets table. You want your guests to admire the velvet touches, embrace the texture, not get smothered in it.
